Jalisa is a native of East Orange, NJ, and a SEEDS Alumna, class of 2006. She attended Caldwell University where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Sociology with a minor in Criminal Justice. She is currently pursuing a master’s degree in social work. Upon graduation, Jalisa served as a mental health counselor in Middlesex County, NJ. Prior to rejoining the SEEDS family, she was a youth worker for at-risk youth with the New Jersey Department of Military and Veteran’s Affairs. She chose to return to SEEDS as a guidance officer because she wants to be an avid promoter of mental health and a resource for students who look like herself and share similar walks of life. A passionate believer that access does change everything, her number one goal is to help put students of color in positions to unlock and open doors that might otherwise be closed to them.
