College Scholars in the Classes of 2018 and 2019 have been busy! After admission to SEEDS earlier this year, College Scholar juniors took a three-day college tour with SEEDS. From February 7th to February 9th, College Scholars visited five schools in Washington, D.C., Maryland and Virginia, and had the opportunity to experience life and academics on campus. Thanks to Washington and Lee University, University of Richmond, University of Virginia, Howard University and Johns Hopkins University for great tours! (View photos.) Now, College Scholars are taking academic classes each Saturday with SEEDS at Drew University and researching institutions to work into their final college lists. College Scholar juniors are also building college knowledge in their College 101 class.
Meanwhile, SEEDS’ College Scholar seniors have hit the ground running in the second half of their school year. On January 27, our seniors participated in a SEEDS Senior Retreat. College Scholars first spent time making – and then presenting – vision boards for their first year of college. Afterwards, students worked in small groups to identify the characteristics SEEDS scholars need to be successful. (View photos from the Senior Retreat.)
On Saturday, February 24, SEEDS alumni headed to Drew University to participate in a career panel with seniors. Thanks to Giovana Espejo (SEEDS ’05, Taft School ’09, University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill), Thomas Gaffney (SEEDS ’01, The Hotchkiss School ’05, Cornell University, NYU Stern School of Business) and Carol Pak-Teng (SEEDS ’98, George School ’02, New York University) for meeting with our College Scholars! College Scholar seniors will also have another opportunity to interact with and ask questions of SEEDS graduates. The College Scholars Homecoming event will take place on Saturday, March 3. Stay tuned for photos!
